Artist Statement
"My art is meant to shed light on everyday objects and ideas in a new way. I often use my personal experiences, such as my upbringing on a cattle ranch, as inspiration for my work. Once I have started creating, I’m sometimes inspired by the creation of the work itself and the design may venture in a different direction. The projects that I design often include materials such as rope and wire because they are materials that I’m used to handling on my family’s ranch. My meticulous process involves lots of pre-project planning and designing. As I become engaged in creating, I sometimes allow myself to stray as I make new discoveries within the process. With a constant drive to create new things, my art is a manifestation of these discoveries." -Haley Porter
